You get old classroom style chairs in electric pink and cafeteria style wooden tables alongside some pretty hip music making the ambience all the more vibrant.
It was lunch time and the place was mostly filled with suits and a few tables of casual lunchers.
We started with a Market Fresh Guacamole (not pictured) which was freshly made and pounded at our table. The guacamole has ingredients like avocado, coriander, lime juice, walnuts and some Serrano chilli for an extra kick of spicy. Although I personally thought it wasn't spicy at all. I was glad they served plantain chips alongside instead of the usual corn chips because these plantain chips are amaaazinggggg. The guacamole dish was so good we ordered a second one.
Mango & Habenero Chilli
Next was a Mango and Habenero Chilli Salsa which was served with more plantain chips. Yesssss! The salsa consists of mango, Roma tomatoes, cucumber, Jalepeno, lime salt and sprinkles of toasted coconut. It was a little bit of sweet, salty, sour and spicy in a bowl and tasted really delicious. The chilled mango cubes and cucumbers also makes it very refreshing.
One of the signature dishes here is the Blackened Corn grilled in its husk with smoky paprika, Queso Fresco and topped with some shreds of Parmesan. I was pretty disappointed with the size of this dish as we were sharing because the corns were about an inch and a half high which were pretty tiny. That said, the corns were grilled perfectly with the right texture and the flavours all go so well together.

Another must order are the tacos. We only went for the Smoked Pork Belly and Grilled Ocean Trout tacos as we are not keen lamb eaters. But many have said the lamb taco is the best. The Smoked Pork Belly taco is served with black bean hummus and tomatillo salsa although in my opinion the hummus did not taste like hummus but more like mayonnaise instead. It goes really well with the green salsa on the side. However, the Grilled Ocean Trout taco won me over and I ended up ordering another serve and had two more to myself. The taco is filled with a piece of ocean trout which sits on a bed of pickled red cabbage, garnished with a thin slice of Jalepeno and served with Chipotle mayonnaise. The flavours were so good, I just wished the tacos were a little bit bigger.
We didn't order any main course as we wanted to try a little of this and that. But I will definitely return to try Mejico's famous Glazed Pork Ribs and the Agave-glazed Caramel Fudge one day.
Do make a reservation for dinners and during the weekends as the restaurant is usually very packed.
